Do my pictures need maintenance?

Take a look at the framed artwork around your home and ask yourself these
questions:

Does your art hang in direct light?
Was your framing done more than 10 years ago?
     Is your art irreplaceable?
Do you notice discoloration of your art?
Has the edge of the matting around the picture yellowed?
Does the picture or matting appear faded?
Does the inside of the glass appear foggy?

Look closely as some damage is not that obvious.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should know about conservation framing. Some damage may be irreversible, but you can prevent further deterioration by taking a few precautions. Conservation framing is a
method of framing used to preserve and protect artwork, using only materials and techniques that can be reversed to leave the art undamaged and in its original state.

Art includes anything you may frame such as photo, newspaper clippings, prints, original art, fabric heirlooms, etc.,

Schedule regular check-ups of your art to identify problems in time to make a change. For less than $50.00 for a poster-sized picture, a custom framer can disassemble the frame , clean the glass, inside and out, and notify you of any concerns. It's a small price to pay for piece of mind.
