Robert Bateman
|
Canadian artist, Robert Bateman
is a zealous spokesman for the environment who has dedicated his life's
work to its preservation. Bateman's message is timely , and his art is
powerful. It is prized by famous museums and found in collections worldwide,
including the collection of HRH The Prince Philip, the late Princess Grace
of Monaco, and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands.
Bateman has had many
one-man museum shows throughout North America, including an exhibition
at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.; most of these shows
have drawn record-breaking crowds. Two schools have been named after Bateman,
a former educator. Four books of his art have set publishing records, and
a fifth was recently dedicated to young readers.
Bateman has used his
art to raise millions of dollars for conservation. Among his numerous honors
and awards are the Medal of Honor from the World Wildlife Fund, being named
a 20th Century "Champion of Conservation" by Audubon magazine,
and his country's highest civilian award naming him an Officer of the Order
of Canada.

The rural landscapes of Canada are places
where humans have learned to live in harmony with nature. In the rush toward
economic globalization we are losing something precious and possibly irretrievable.
