"The Canadian Pacific Railway Station, Circa 1915"

10" X 14"
Edition Qty. 400 - $60.00

This memorable red brick CPR Station is located only a short distance from the World renowned "High Level Bridge" in Lethbridge, Alberta. Appearing here as the expanded version of the original Union Station of 1906, it retains the formed conical roof as the central feature in its symmetrical design. During this era, the railway unlocked the area's economy, providing transportation for the export of coal and agricultural products, and for the influx of settlers to Southern Alberta. Described as an "adornment to the landscape" at its opening, the station has retained its original charm for nearly a century. Now protected as a Historic Site, it is currently occupied by The Lethbridge Health Unit.

In this recreated view, we are given a glimpse into early life, at the station on a typical winter evening. A western bound locomotive steams to a stop in front of the station's platform, as satchels are unloaded from an International truck, and passengers mill about. Baggage wagons are seen lined up along the length of the enchanting amber walkway at the front of the building. Although today, these once familiar images have now vanished, we can still enjoy the enduring site of  The Big Dipper, The North Star, and the colourful Aurora Borealis in the night sky above this vintage landmark.
