On a summer evening from the past, a long train from Mimico yards rumbles underneath Bathurst Street bound for Danforth Hill and Scarborough. The massive helper engine, #4104, was designed for this task on the stretch of railroad, and along with its four sisters, performed it well for nearly thirty years. Built for the CNR in 1924, these engines were the largest and most powerful in the British Empire. #3459 is a 2-8-2 built for the Grand Trunk Railways in 1913.
