"Great Northern in Marias Pass "Edition Qty. 195 - $450.00 A/P 15 Canvas 28" X 43" Qty. 50 A/P 5 Today's Burlington Northern Railway was formed by the 1970 merger of four railways including the Northern Pacific and Great Northern. The GN mainline, still very much in use, crosses the Rocky Mountains via Marias Pass in Northern Montana's Glacier National Park. In this scene, an eastbound freight emerges from a snowshed approximately ten miles from the summit of the grade of the continental divide. The locomotive is one of the GN's largest; the massive and powerful R-2's, built in the railway's own Hillyard shops at Spokane.
