Be It Unto Me is
the premier image in what the Greenwich Workshop believes will be
a major and definitive collective work. Over the next two years, the artist
will document the human events in Jesus' life through 50 unique paintings
that will be made available over time as prints, canvases and a book. Lemon
Swindle sees Be It Unto Me as a celebration of Mary as much as Jesus.
"She was about 14 years old, just a child when told she would give birth
to the Savior. But all she said was, "Be it unto me" (Luke 1:38). You have
to honor that kind of faith." Published from the artists original oil painting.
Liz Lemon Swindle feels
blessed to share her abiding faith through her art. Formerly a successful
wildlife painter, she won the Founders' Favorite Award at the 1988
National
Arts for the Parks competition with a heartfelt portrait of children.
Soon afterward, she committed herself exclusively to religious subjects.
A one-woman show of her Christian art traveled nationwide in the summer
of 1997, and a book of her paintings, She Shall Bring Forth A Son, was
published in 1998.
