"Days Gone By" captures the beauty of an
old locomotive and prairie grain elevator depicted with all the detail
and clarity that collectors have come to expect from Tyler Thompson.
The amalgamation of four
grain companies owned by Augustus Searle family in 1929 made the Searle
Grain Company the fourth largest elevator company in Canada with holdings
of more than 400 elevators across the west. In 1967, Searle Grain Company
was bought out by Federal Grain Company, which in turn was bought out in
1972 by the Saskatchewan and Alberta Wheat Pools.
